2026 has seen The Boo Radleys earn a welcome resurgence. Their recent album ‘In Spite of Everything’ earned a fresh wave of critical acclaim, extending the praise that has followed them since the ‘90s. Now this era in the band’s journey continues with the release of the ‘King Budgie’ EP.
The EP leads with ‘King Budgie’, one of the album’s highlights, and is completed by three new songs that show that the band were in the midst of a burst of inspiration as they wrote the current album. ‘Love Song For A Dutch Prostitute’ sources a delicate beauty in imagining the most fleeting of connections during a work conference to Amsterdam; ‘I Know That It’s Alright’ builds from glitch-pop psychedelia into a distorted shoegaze finale; and ‘Wanna Do’ instantly hits hard with a grungey attack and power-pop dynamics.
